Summary
If you find that Kellogg or Northwestern email is going to your junk folder, use these steps to ensure these messages are delivered to your Inbox.

Overview

Your email program may occasionally filter a legitimate message into your Junk E-mail folder. Messages are filtered based on your junk email settings, which "learn" from the messages you mark as junk, as well as a set of rules for identifying potentially unwanted email.

If you want to ensure that all email from a Kellogg or Northwestern email address is delivered to your Inbox, follow the steps below to configure these addresses as safe. If you are forwarding your Kellogg email to another email address, you may follow the steps below (as applicable) and follow your email client's directions to make changes to its junk or spam filtering settings.


Set Kellogg and Northwestern Addresses as Safe

Outlook 2007 (Windows)

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Preferences tab, under E-mail, click Junk E-mail.
  3. Click the Safe Senders tab.
  4. Click Add and type *@kellogg.northwestern.edu 1
  5. Click Add again and type *@northwestern.edu

 Outlook 2010 / 2013 (Windows)

  1. In your folder view, right-click on the message.
  2. In the context menu, select Junk > Junk E-mail options..
  3. Click the Safe Senders tab.
  4. Click Add and type *@kellogg.northwestern.edu 1
  5. Click Add again and type *@northwestern.edu 

Outlook 2011 (Mac)

  1. From the Tools menu, select Junk E-mail Protection. The Junk E-mail Protection dialog box appears.
  2. Select the Safe Domains tab.
  3. In the Safe Domains text box, enter kellogg.northwestern.edu, northwestern.edu
  4. Click OK.

WebMail (Outlook Web Access)

  1. From the toolbar, click Options. > See All Options...
  2. On the left, slect Block or Allow
  3. Under the Safe Senders and Recipients, enter the following addresses:
