Use your NetID to access most online resources at Kellogg. Also included in this article are solutions to common NetID access issues.
Your NetID is used to access Kellogg and Northwestern online resources. Examples include email, network printers, online classroom tools like Blackboard, and library databases. Most NetID's are comprised of 3 letters and 3 numbers (e.g., "def456"). 1
For security purposes, Northwestern requires all users to change their NetID password periodically. You will receive a notice via email 30 days before your password is due to expire. Please see the Changing your NetID password page for information on how to change your password.
NetID Access Issues
Ensure CAPS Lock is off
Many log-in problems are caused when the CAPS Lock key is depressed. Since most passwords are hidden as you type them, it’s easy to type letters in ALL CAPS, and not realize it. Keep in mind that most security systems allow you 3 tries before locking your account.
Some Kellogg websites and services require you to enter "Kellogg\" before your NetID; for example: kellogg\def456. If you cannot log in with only your NetID, try adding Kellogg as shown above. If you still encounter issues, please contact KIS.
